Let's Help Blitz and The MS Fo Let's Help Blitz and The MS Foundation!

Our mascott Blitz has a few words for all of Us!
Ryan's Story:
One year and 2 months ago, I learned I was living with a disease that has no cure. That feeling you have when your foot is asleep, I had running from my ribcage to my toes. It lasted for days.
I saw multiple doctors and had a number of MRIs. All resulted in the same phone call telling me the results were inconclusive and I'd need to come in again. That changed on Dec 7th, 2008.
"Hi Ryan, the results of your brain scan came in and we'd like to discuss the results with you in person." I think I blacked out for the rest of the conversation but the nurse said something along the lines of it being important for me to come in today and that they had cleared time on the doctor's schedule if I could make it work. Of course I could make it work.
Multiple Sclerosis, a degenerative neurological disease, directly affects more people in Washington than anywhere else in the US. That afternoon I learned I was part of that statistic.
My mom thought I was dying. For those of you that know my mom, you know she is one of the most loving human beings on the planet. It hurt me more trying to comprehend her pain than to find out I had MS. It was hard on my whole family, but with the encouraging words of my dad, the compassion of my mom, and my brother moving out to Seattle to be with me, they have made it easier.
I know exactly what Lou Gehrig meant when he said he felt like one of the luckiest people in the world. I have an incredible life. In the past few years, I have been to Africa, Europe and South America, shared a stage with Steve Ballmer, been skydiving with Red Bull, and jumped off the roof of Qwest Field to the sound of 67,000 screaming fans.
As most of you know, I spend my days working at Microsoft and most of my other time running around as the mascot for the Seattle Seahawks. Every year I go to numerous walks, runs and charity events for different causes and diseases dressed as Blitz. I had been to Walk MS before, but it only registered as "another walk" to me. But last year it was different, and this year, I am starting my own team. Team Blitz.
The Seahawks have been an unbelievably supportive organization and I will be doing the entire walk dressed as Blitz, the mascot. With the support of the Seahawks and using the mascot as a vehicle for fundraising, I've been given the unique opportunity to raise money for a cause that's important to me and millions of others. I've set two goals for Team Blitz this year: the first is to raise $100,000; the second is to win the Rookie Team of the Year award. Lofty? Maybe. Achievable? Most definitely!
If you are reading this, it means we are somehow connected and I would love to have you involved. I understand you may not have the time or be able to help financially, however just by reading this message, you have already helped. If you want to actively get involved, I've outlined a few things you can do, any of which would mean the world to me.
1. Donate money. Help raise money to find a cure and donate on my team site (Don't forget to check and see if your company matches donations - I can answer questions about matching, especially for Microsoft)
2. Walk on Team Blitz. Even if you can't raise money, if you are local to Seattle, on April 11th, walk with me. Mark it on your calendar!
3. Forward this to someone, or everyone. Sometimes a note is all people need to find a cause they want to support. I know I left people out, so please pass it on.
4. Post a message on Facebook to help raise money and awareness. You can link to this website.
5. Watch a 6 minute mini-documentary my brother created on the walk.
6. Ask questions. It's totally okay.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects people differently over time. I'm in the early stages and have 3 lesions on my brain; not a day goes by that I don't notice how it affects my body. It's slight now, and overall I'm doing well; but many people are not. They struggle with fatigue, they struggle to walk, they struggle with depression, they struggle with life.
Help me. Help me inspire hope and remind millions of people that no disease can ever hold us down. Join me.
Approximately 100 times a year, groups and organizations ask me to dress up as Blitz. On April 11th, I ask you to walk for me, so that I can continue to run for you.
Help today!
Ryan
We wish Ryan all best and hope we can get one heck of a large group there on April 11th!!!

Seahawks o Seahawks Seahawks o Seahawks
- From: Tomahawker
-
Description:
A poem - as blatantly ripped off from Walt Whitman, and modified by Tomahawker: And now, I give you - Seahawks o Seahawks
Seahawks o Seahawks –
COME my helmet-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your game day weapons ready,
Have you your pads? Have you your sharp-edged skills?
Seahawks! O Seahawks! For we cannot tarry here,
You must play my Seahawks, you must bear the brunt of game day,
You the youthful sinewy races, all the 12th man on you depend,
Seahawks! O Seahawks!O you youths, athletic youths,
So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship,
Plain we see you athletic youths, see you tramping in the team tunnel
Seahawks! O Seahawks!Has the team descended?
Was the road of late so toilsome? Did we the 12th man not encourage?,
Seahawks! O Seahawks!Have the coaches halted?
Do they droop and end their lesson, wearied over there beyond
the benches?
You must take up the game eternal, and the burden and the lesson,
Seahawks! O Seahawks! All the past we now leave behind, no hope of plays in 2009
We must embark upon a newer mightier team, varied team,
Fresh and strong the team we must build, team of labor and ready to march,
Seahawks! O Seahawks! With players steady throwing,
Down the edges, through the passes, up the sidelines deep,
Conquering defenses, holding the line, daring, venturing frequently to the end zone,
Seahawks! O Seahawks!O restless restless team!
O beloved team members all! O my 12th man heart aches for all!
O I mourn the losses and yet exult the wins, I am rapt for all,
Seahawks! O Seahawks!Raise now the mighty 12th man flag,
Waving high over Qwest Field, over all the fanatical fans,
(bend your heads all,)
Raise the 12th man flag and our warlike cries,
Seahawks! O Seahawks!See your fans, their children, and children’s children,
By the swarms of their voices upon your ears you must never yield the game or falter,
Ages back in ghostly thousands, cheering fans behind you urging, play offs – play offs
Seahawks! O Seahawks!Till the sound of the whistle in 2010
Far, far off next season calls—hark! how loud and clear you hear the 12th man already,
Swift! to the draft board – swift to the practice field, then swift to the head of the team tunnel!—swift! spring to your places,

Description:
Anyone who was at the Seahawks verse Jaguars game felt something that we haven't experienced in quite some time. There was a supernatural feeling inside all of us as we left Qwest Field, or turned off our television sets.
For Jaguars fans, that feeling was embarrassment; the same feeling most Seahawks fans had after being dominated by the Colts in Week 4. For Seahawks fans, it was a extraordinary feeling, like the weight of the world had been lifted off our shoulders.
The Seahawks played with heart. The Seahawks played with passion.
12th Man was in full force from the first light of the barbeque to the last person arriving home after a long drive from Seattle.
The Seahawks showed the world that they are still contenders in the NFC West, a growing powerhouse division in the NFL previously a laughing stock by analysts. But whose to blame them? With the Rams, 49ers, and Cardinals all having losing seasons the past couple years, it wasn't hard for the Seahawks to make the playoffs.
Last year changed everything. Regardless of our opinions of the Cardinals making it to the Super bBwl, they have helped bring back some credibility to our division. With the 49ers being on top and playing some good football, it only helps out that much more.
But REDEMPTION for the Seahawks did not start yesterday when Owen Schmitt smashed his skull with his helmet. It didn't start in the closing 2 minutes of the game when Seneca was able to take knees to solidify the shutout.
REDEMPTION STARTS THIS SUNDAY AGAINST THE CARDINALS.
This is the MUST WIN GAME we need to turn our season around. We play the Cardinals at Qwest Field, a game with more on the line than just a rivalry. This is a season-changing game for either team.
Stay tuned for an in-depth breakdown of the Arizona Cardinals versus Seattle Seahawks game.
